Hello Paul, my name is Rodrigo and I would like to start of by thanking you for all the effort you have put into your Youtube channel, sound tips website, Facebook and other social media where you provide such tremendous help, knowledge and over all inspiration for the aspiring sound engineer. I got really excited when I noticed that you started uploading videos again on youtube, please don’t stop! though I know a lot of the times life can get in the way.. your videos are some of the best out there, and my go to source for tips and inspiration.
Thank you for doing what you do at Bottom of The hill, I live in San Jose.. about 45 min to an hour of San Francisco, get to catch shows at this venue quite often, and every time It is a great experience.
I am currently studying music at West Valley College in Saratoga and received my degree in Commercial music/ sound production. however I continue to focus on writing, composition as well as performing. Music and sound are my passion. a little over a year and a half ago, I began to volunteer at a local church doing sound for their house band every Sunday, got to work with a great sound engineer they had at the time, and learned quite a bit about live sound and mixing from him. I got hooked… Later, I moved on to working theater gigs, sound design, and mixing live bands at City Lights theater in downtown San Jose. It is a true pleasure to be able to do what I am passionate about AND get paid for it. However.. It is not very consistent, and don’t get to do it nearly as much as I would like to.
Currently, I am a cook at Google in Sunnyvale. I enjoy cooking, but food is not my carrier of interest, it is just a way to get by, and meet ends at the end of the month for now. I trully look up to people like you. I want to do what you are doing for living some day! I aim to make my passion my carrier and am committed to go above and beyond for it.
with that being said, I would like to ask you, do you have any suggestions or advice on how to approach this life style?
places to apply or start of with to build up from? Do you ever have aspiring engineers shadow you or help you out in any way or form? if so, I am really interested.
Hope that I get to hear from you. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my message.
keep doing what you are doing, you are awesome!
